Permaculture Kingston encourages and promotes Permaculture principles and practices in Kingston and the surrounding areas

What is permaculture:

Permaculture is a design system which seeks to mimic the patterns and relationships found in nature while yielding an abundance of food, fibre and energy for the provision of local needs.

The permaculture system is driven by three ethics (care for the earth, care for the people and return of surplus). It draws from the methodology of natural systems to create self replicating, evolving and infinitely sustainable solutions and can be applied to all aspects of human habitation from agriculture to ecological building, from appropriate technology to education and economics.

Visions and Objectives:

Permaculture Kingston is a community group interested in learning about permaculture design and techniques that can be applied on a small or large scale.  We pursue common interests (meet montly) and learn through self education.  Our objectives can be seen below:

~ Bring people together to network and share resources and ideas with the goal of spreading permaculture principles and ethics throughout the community

~Offer education workshops and presentations provided by our members and guest presenters from the surrounding community.

~ Be a hub where people can find others to participate in worksharing and skill trading

~ Be advocates for municipal projects and issues in relation to permaculture.

~Encourage people to think about how they can design a system in their backyard or acreage that is in alignment with permaculture principles.
